Volunteer Qualifications – Concours Devou

There are many exciting ways to get involved as a volunteer at Concours Devou! While some roles are more physically demanding—such as those requiring extended periods of standing or working outdoors in the sun—others may be more flexible. A passion for and knowledge of collector automobiles is a valuable asset and is required for specific assignments like Show Car Placement and Paddock Parking.

No matter the role, every volunteer must be ready to serve as a welcoming ambassador for the event. A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a commitment to creating an exceptional experience for our exhibitors and guests are essential.

Admissions & Will Call Volunteer Responsibilities – Concours Devou

As a volunteer at the Main Entrance, your responsibilities will include:

  • Greeting Guests
    Welcome attendees with a friendly attitude and provide helpful information about the event.
  • Selling Admission Tickets
    Process ticket sales efficiently using both cash and credit card transactions.
  • Handling Payments
    Accurately collect and account for all funds received during your shift.
  • Managing Will Call
    Check the Will Call roster for guests who have pre-purchased tickets and assist them with entry.

This role is ideal for volunteers who are comfortable interacting with the public, handling transactions, and ensuring a smooth and welcoming entry experience for all guests.

Class Host Volunteer Responsibilities – Concours Devou

As a Class Host, you will be assigned to a specific judged class and play a key role in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for both exhibitors and judges. Your responsibilities include:

  • Exhibitor Support
    Serve as the primary point of contact for car owners in your assigned class. Answer questions, assist with needs, and help resolve any issues that may arise throughout the day.
  • Judge Assistance
    Support the judging team by facilitating communication, helping locate vehicles or owners, and ensuring the judging process runs efficiently.
  • Hospitality & Comfort
    Check in regularly with exhibitors to ensure they are comfortable and well-informed. Offer assistance as needed to enhance their overall experience.
  • Car Supervision
    Remain with the vehicles in your class while owners are away for lunch or other activities, ensuring their cars are safe and secure.

Information Booth Volunteer Responsibilities – Concours Devou

As an Information Booth Volunteer, you will serve as a key resource for guests, exhibitors, and fellow volunteers. Stationed at an assigned tent, booth, or information point, your responsibilities include:

  • Providing Event Information
    Answer questions and offer accurate, up-to-date information on all aspects of the Concours, including:

    • Event schedules and locations
    • Judging times and award ceremonies
    • Exhibitor and vendor areas
    • Food, restrooms, and other facilities
  • Offering Directions & Assistance
    Help attendees navigate the show field and surrounding areas by providing clear directions and guidance.
  • Supporting Guest Experience
    Ensure all visitors feel welcomed and informed, contributing to a smooth and enjoyable event experience for everyone.

This role is perfect for volunteers who are friendly, knowledgeable, and enjoy helping others. A strong understanding of the event layout and schedule is essential.

Show Car Placement Volunteer Responsibilities – Concours Devou

As a member of the Show Car Placement Team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Traffic Management & Car Placement
    Direct and guide all show cars onto the show field, ensuring each vehicle is placed in its correct class and designated position.
  • Precision Parking
    Confirm that all show cars are properly aligned and parked according to the layout plan.
  • Signage & Display Setup
    Install class signs, banners, and flags as needed to clearly identify each section and enhance the visual presentation of the field.
  • Exhibitor Handoff & Experience
    Welcome exhibitors and vehicle owners, then introduce them to their assigned Class Host. Ensure each exhibitor has a smooth, positive, and professional experience from arrival to placement.

This role is ideal for volunteers who are organized, confident in directing traffic, and passionate about creating a seamless and enjoyable experience for our exhibitors.

Show Field Setup Volunteer Responsibilities – Concours Devou

As part of the Show Field Setup Team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Field Layout & Traffic Planning
    Assist in laying out the entire show field, including:

    • Designating car class areas and show car circles
    • Establishing clear pedestrian walkways and show car traffic routes
  • Equipment Placement & Installation
    Help with the setup and positioning of:

    • Benches, bleachers, tents, and barriers
    • Event signage, banners, and flags
  • Vendor & Artist Area Setup
    Support the setup of vendor booths and artist facilities within the Entertainment Center area.

This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy hands-on work, have good spatial awareness, and are comfortable with physical tasks. Your efforts will help create a polished and organized environment for exhibitors and guests alike.

Teardown & Cleanup Volunteer Responsibilities – Concours Devou

As a member of the Teardown & Cleanup Team, your role is essential in restoring the event grounds to their original condition. Your responsibilities include:

  • Equipment Breakdown
    • Take down, fold, and stack tables and chairs
    • Remove and properly store stakes, barriers, tents, banners, signs, and flags
    • Collect, box, and organize all signage for future use
  • Site Restoration
    • Replace benches and barriers to their original locations
    • Pick up and dispose of all trash and debris
    • Walk the grounds to ensure all areas are clean and facilities are left in excellent condition

This role is ideal for volunteers who are dependable, detail-oriented, and don’t mind physical activity. Your efforts help ensure Concours Devou ends on a high note and leaves a positive impression on the venue and community.

Venue Operations Volunteer Responsibilities – Concours Devou

As a Venue Operations Volunteer, you will support a wide range of essential activities to ensure the smooth operation of the event. Your responsibilities may include:

  • General Venue Support
    Assist with various tasks related to the venue, guests, and staff as needed throughout the day.
  • Support Services Assistance
    Provide assistance to securitymedical personnel, and automotive support teams as situations arise.
  • Traffic & Flow Management
    Help manage the flow and placement of guest, participant, and staff vehicles to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Golf Cart Program Oversight
    Coordinate the Golf Cart Program, including distribution, usage tracking, and ensuring carts are used appropriately.
  • Venue Layout (Excluding Show Field)
    Assist with the layout and setup of all venue areas outside the main show field, including hospitality zones, vendor areas, and guest services.
  • Logistics Coordination
    Work with the Keeneland Association to coordinate the delivery and placement of site property and equipment.
  • Teardown & Equipment Return
    Support the site teardown process and assist in the return of all rented or borrowed equipment.

Volunteer Check-In & Support – Concours Devou

As a member of the Volunteer Check-In & Support Team, you will play a vital role in welcoming and assisting our volunteers throughout the event. Your responsibilities include:

  • Volunteer Check-In
    • Greet and check in volunteers upon arrival
    • Verify or collect signed waivers
    • Distribute volunteer T-shirts
    • Direct volunteers to their assigned work locations
  • Volunteer Hospitality
    • Provide water and snacks to volunteers throughout the day
    • Monitor volunteer needs and ensure they are supported and comfortable
  • General Event Support
    • Be available to assist in other areas as needed to help ensure the event runs smoothly
